Structural Diversity in Urdu Hamd
Abstract
Hamd” is an Arabic word which means praise to be God. It is a form of poetry, which in
turn is attributed to the praise of Allah. In classical poetry, there are many forms in terms
of the structure of the poem. The use of different stanzas for writing “Hamd” is also a
feature of Urdu poetry. A critical review has been made which were used by various
poets while writing “Hamd”. This paper has been explained with arguments that the
paraphrase of the “Hamd” is not only focused on one entity but consists of several
technical aspects.
